Tender Shoveltusk-Steak (A Warcraft Recipe)

As most of you already know, I’ve been a Warcraft nerd since the mid 90’s. So naturally I would add in a few of the recipes from the Warcraft Cook Book. This ones for my guildies in Undying on Ysera!

Ingredients:

Serves 2

2 steaks, about a pound each
1 tbs olive oil
1-2 tbs unsalted butter
1 tbs salt (Warning: The ‘Northern Spices’ contains salt already, I HIGHLY recommend 1/4 tsp of salt or maybe even skip this ingredient!)
1 teaspoon Northern Spices (Ingredients will be below)
1 clove of garlic, minced
1 cup red wine

Northern Spices Ingredients:20170414_220711~2

1 tbs cardamom
1tbs dried juniper berries
1 tsp smoked salt
1/2 teaspoon pepper
1/2 tsp ginger
1/4 tsp allspice or nutmeg

Directions

Melt butter and olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Mix the Northern Spices, salt (if you chose to use), and garlic into a small bowl then cover both sides of the steaks with the seasoning.

Lower steaks into the pan and sear for a minute or two. Flip the steaks for another minute or two and then add the red wine carefully. Cook for a few more minutes for medium-rare steaks. When the meat is done to how you like it, remove and place on a cutting board and allow them to rest while you finish the sauce. Reduce the liquid in the pan until it has thickened but still pourable, usually about 10 minutes.
